Recycling for the Birds, Handmade Bird Houses is the featured presentation at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, July 21, at 7 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road in Bensalem.

Guest speaker Jack Jones creates and builds birdhouses and feeders from repurposed barn wood from the 1800’s.  Each house is made from recycled materials and are unique, artistic and one of a kind.  Jones will discuss both the proper design of a birdhouse and the important features to consider when purchasing one.  He will also cover how to garden for wildlife and how to attract birds.  Birdhouses will be available for sale at the end of this presentation.

Following retirement, Jones installed a greenhouse to grow his own plants and started to make custom furniture for his family.  Amazed by the amount of leftover wood, he started making birdhouses from recycled materials.  That’s when “JJ Woodcrafts” was born.

All meetings are open to the public; cost is $5.  For information, contact 856-866-9163 or visit trevosegardeners.org.
