"Spring and Fall Bulbs" will be the featured program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, May 12 at 7 pm at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Rd. in Bensalem.
Guest speaker, Carl Vivaldi, a retired horticulture instructor from the Bucks County Technical High School will explain perennial bulbs, tubers and rhizomes. They are a different type of perennials that are easy to grow in our area and provide beautiful flowers during three seasons. Easily forced, some make excellent houseplants as well. Using a calendar as reference, Vivaldi will describe when perennials should be planted and their bloom times to give you the best uses of these floral beauties that can be enjoyed each year.
Happily retired, Vivaldi continues to sit as the Plant Expert Chair for the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society and is active with the annual flower show. He also sits on both county and statewide councils of the Pennsylvania Agriculture Extension group.
All meetings are open to the public; all are welcome, $5 to observe. For further information, please contact 856-866-9163, visit www.trevosegardeners.org, or follow us on Facebook.
