Final thanks

Posted

Over the years I have used this column to occasionally express my appreciation for all who have contributed to my dental career.  This year is especially appropriate as, after 45 years, I am sailing into retirement!

First, to my specialist dentists and dental labs – it has been a pleasure working with you. Your expertise and advice have served my patients well and made this general dentist look good.

To my team, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.  This team’s daily commitment to excellence is unparalleled, at least in my 45 years of dentistry.  They show up, work hard, smile and attempt, always, to “keep me in my lane”!  They are some of my favorite people to spend time with.

My family has been my reason for being.  My son surprised me after college graduation when he wanted to become a dentist!  With a business degree in hand, Michael did what was necessary to get into dental school, including working in my office as an assistant for a year.  In 2020 he became my partner, just in time for COVID!   His leadership skills became immediately apparent as he ordered PPE supplies, prepared the office for reopening and set up zoom meetings!  Working with my son has been one of the great joys of my life. I am beyond proud and happy that he will carry the practice into the future.

To my patients: I couldn’t have done it without you!  You entrusted me with your health, your families, and your smiles. The faith you put in me is truly humbling.  You, too, brought joy to my life and a reason to go to work each day. I thank you.

Now, patients, you haven’t completely gotten rid of me!  You may see me in the office checking a hygiene patient, fixing a piece of equipment, or simply visiting.  Just know that these “sightings” are wrapped around my golf game, my grandchildren and travelling with my wife Susan!

Finally, to God, I give all thanks, honor and glory.  May God bless us all!
